Fairtrade helps farmers and workers in developing countries to gain a better place in the trade chain. This enables them to make a living from their work and invest in sustainable measures for a better future. The Fairtrade Cotton label has been specifically developed for cotton farmers.
In order to be able to invest in, for example, technical support and better logistics, Fairtrade encourages cotton farmers to unite in cooperatives. This improves their negotiating position, giving them a better price for their cotton and access to the world market.
The cotton is bought from the cooperative by exporters and importers. Fairtrade has set out a number of strict trading conditions in order to ensure a good income for the farmers:
FLO-Cert is an independent inspection institute that checks all links in the chain for correct implementation of the strict trading conditions set by Fairtrade. HeboVanDijk itself is not certified or licensed for the Fairtrade Cotton label. However, we do sell a range of bath linen from a Fairtrade cotton licensed supplier.
HeboVanDijk is certified for the sustainability labels GRS, GOTS and OCS/OCS Blended. In addition, we supply bath linen that is produced under the Fairtrade Cotton conditions. Would you like to know more about sustainable textiles? Visit our Sustainability page or contact our sales department.
